P0243 - just swap the solenoid?
P0243 - just swap the solenoid?
I didn't really see any other threads with that code, unless I'm searching wrong.
I did some research on the issue. What I found was for this code to pop up it would mean the solenoid is stuck open or closed.
There was a video where someone put a light thingy onto the wires and the code didn't pop up. Not exactly sure what that was about since I'm not a mechanic.
Is there any way to troubleshoot this code or should I just buy a new one? Any way to check wiring first? Such as removing the part then controlling it open or closed with 12v power? (also any idea if this part is positive/negative immune - doesn't matter what wires go to each)
Also, is boost control solenoid an interchangeable term for wastegate solenoid?
And not sure if it matters or not, but the code will come back immediately after resetting CEL codes.

The boost control solenoid is the one mounted directly on the turbocharger. Yes sometimes referred to as wastegate solenoid.
My boost control solenoid went bad years ago. In my research, I discovered that sometimes the issue was the electrical connector had been heat damaged.
Here's something interesting. https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/ss-s...olenoid-65238/Looks the same, except the mounting point is a little different. Seems like these solenoids became available again recently, but I can't remember where. Not CED or ZZP... not OTTP either.

Verify the resistance specifications for your particular vehicle. If the solenoid is either open or shorted (infinite resistance or no resistance/0 ohms), replace the solenoid.
Using the scan tool to actuate the wastegate/boost pressure control solenoid, see if the test light come on each time the scan tool actuates the solenoid
This is also interesting, but I've recently swapped the turbo and it has a new wastegate actuator solenoid, perhaps it's an issue across many of them?

I will check the connector on it. Perhaps I didn't plug it in all the way. I remember it being an issue. And I will read that guide and follow the test instructions to test the wires as best I can.

Rockauto has the whole assembly for $291 lol......
Both nearby ford dealerships had that BL3Z9K378A solenoid itself for $85. Should I just try that?
ZZP is kind of pricey
