Please help boost issue
You're the first to report back on this forum that the boost control solenoid works on our turbos. What was the mod you had to do? I don't imagine you got any pics of the mod/install?
Well the one u get has a two peice screw design where there a screw at the top on the solenoid and bottom and the one from the factory is just a one screw design at the bottom and the screw is bigger than the ones you get from the kit so I took a pair of cutters and cut the top screw holder off and got it down to as close as I could without damaging the sensor - pretty much was a trail and error deal I'd cut a little off and check then cut a little more - until it fit on the metal bracket I took off the old sensor - because the kit doesn't come with a bracket and u don't want the bare plastic sensor just sitting on the turbo so after it was all snug I took a drill and a small bit and rounded out the bottom hole till the original screw from the old sensor would fit and then just put it on routed the hoses like they were and test drove it took a couple of pulls and wot for full boost to come back(15 psi) but it works great and no codes
For the lines and wire connector to hook up correctly, the pic from the vendor is upside-down. So you trimmed where the red arrow is(actual top), and enlarged the hole where the green arrow is(actual bottom), right? Then just sandwiched the original bracket in between the solenoid and the turbo to somewhat act as a heat shield? Or is the bracket doing more?
Ur correct because the top screw holder ( red arrow) hits the bottom of the turbo so I trimmed until it fit then Just put the metal bracket up and then the new solenoid and done the only hard part was getting the Hose claps back on took a little time but not to hard if u order the kit and take ur old one off u will see exactly what I mean I'll try to take a photo this afternoon
There are a few other members that have purchased the kit, but have not installed it yet. This should help them understand what they need to do for install. Thanks for returning to post your results and provide details. It can be very frustrating to read through threads and when you get to the end, there is no resolution, no solution.
When I replaced mine(original, used solenoid from another HHR) it seemed easier to pre-install the hoses onto the solenoid, install the solenoid, then connect the hoses to the turbo.
