"Plunk" sound abour 5 sec. after ignition off

I have only had my '08 SS for about two months now and I was wondering what the "plunk" sound is that I hear about 5 seconds after the car is turned off? Almost as if a hard plastic ball is falling into a metal cup. I am assuming something with the turbo/intercooler. Just curious.

Thanks

Dunno what it is but I have always heard it and haven't worried about it at all.

They are on back order...just like the turn signal fluid.

Mine has done same thing since 12 miles. im sure its normal. almost sounds like a small metal ball falling onto a metal plate. Not sure but a good question to ask my service manager

I usually attribute that to the exhaust piping cooling off and shrinking, but that's just me.

I thought it was just the muffler bearing seating after driving it. :)

The sound eminates from under the hood. I'm not sure but I believe there is a vacumn door that opens when the car starts and shuts when there is no more pressure to keep it open. either that or someone left a Guiness can with one of those balls in it under the hood.

I think it's the headlight doors closing.
