If I were betting on it, I'd say it was either the wastegate or blow off valve resetting for the next engine start. The ticking sound is the catalytic converter cooling off.

possible knuder valve hanging up...

The 'tinking' is also the stainless exhaust pipe cooling.. Very common..

I really thought someone would answer the OPs question by now. The same fuel pump solenoid that makes the tick tick sound ever few seconds while it is running, also makes the plunk sound when the engine is turned off.

It was more fun to watch this for a little bit and see where it was going.

I was waiting for the flux capacitor to come up.

It has been brought up several times here since 08.

I too was wondering how long till someone would give the correct answer. MGR just beat me to it.
