After a good thrashing my LT calls me "PUNK".. listen close!

 

If I were betting on it, I'd say it was either the wastegate or blow off valve resetting for the next engine start. The ticking sound is the catalytic converter cooling off.

The 'tinking' is also the stainless exhaust pipe cooling.. Very common..

I really thought someone would answer the OPs question by now. The same fuel pump solenoid that makes the tick tick sound ever few seconds while it is running, also makes the plunk sound when the engine is turned off.

 

It was more fun to watch this for a little bit and see where it was going.

I was waiting for the flux capacitor to come up.

 

I just figured nobody had a real answer :) Glad to know that somebody knew what it really was.

It has been brought up several times here since 08.

I too was wondering how long till someone would give the correct answer. MGR just beat me to it.

 

I don't recall ever hearing it in my H...I'll listen for it tonight.
