Security code needed for replacing ECM?

Hi at all,

have to replace the ECM because itīs faulty, car is running but sends P0606 code, internal error.
Want to replace ECM with new one and If I have the right informations, during the SPS-programming,
I need the security code that figures on the Car Pass, but I dont have any.

Do I really need the Code to do this job?
Or, can somebody tell me the programming procedure without it?

Have GM MDI, GlobalTis 09.2011 v30
ECM: Bosch ME9 (known as E69) Service part number 12623326 (old and new ECM)

Greetings from Germany, Yves.

I think it is asking for your Tis2web password or payment code.

Why did you replace the ECM? Do you still have the old one?

Yes old, original ECM is still mounted, car is running.
The ECM has not been replaced yet. Yes, have inspect harness and connector to many sensors.
The ECM was opened by tuning before I bought the SS. ECM has bad sealing and water comes in,
reason enough to replace ECM.
Before I beginn to replace ECM I want to inform me about the procedure. First I ask a Forum in the UK.
They told me to reset old ECM, then flash VIN in new blank ECM, relearn Theft deterrent and so on...
Finally they wrote I would need Security code from the Car Pass, See >>here<< for better understanding what I mean.
Maybe they are wrong, this is the reason I ask here for the right procedure.

You could fill out the form and reach out to Ryan Taylor.

You should only need to insert the VIN and relearn the crankshaft sesor.

You still have to pay for SPS and use the CANDI interface.

This youtube shows everything I know about it. I've never even seen a Tech2.

Interesting video. I would really like to have the tool, just because. When I use to update software or replace ECM's in trucks with Cat engines I was directly connected to a Caterpillar site for the info. This looks very similar, but it's nice for a user to pay a small fee to do this.

Tis is basically GM/ACDelco firmware repository. It used to be much more expensive, now that you can buy computers at Harbor Freight or use a laptop that $40 for 1 vehicle for 2 years is pretty good. I think the laptop option includes the software.

Which program did you sign up for at tis2web? 1 car for 2 years, multiple cars for 1 year?

When did you last download the programming for your ECM?

I think what the error is telling you is that you have to prove that you paid for the data. SPS is not free from what I see.

From your link above:
The security code input message and related error codes are flags to identify concerns with released content in the SPS applications. Typically, a security code error message should not appear as the management of security code information is completed prior to release in the SPS application.

Contact the TechLine Customer Support Center (TCSC) for additional information about how to complete the necessary programming procedure.
I take that to mean the security code is inserted when you download the firmware after paying for it.

There is probably a way to view the youtube I linked above from Germany; a VPN or something.
