Guess I got lucky on my previous warranty claim. Not so much this time.

To ChevyMgr's questions, I am under the 5yr/100k this time. They said the flywheel is not covered b/c of my KY clutch. I think they just want to recoup from the $4200 they were out on the last visit.

Doubt its because of the clutch,,its a consumable and your under no obligation to strictly use GM parts...more likely falls under the 36k warranty for normal wear and tear items......

Either way, I am going to order the master cylinder this week from RockAuto and have my local mechanic put it in for me for $150. I'm going to forgo the flywheel for the time being as I really don't believe it to be any issue.

The dealership wouldn't be trying to recoup from the last warranty claim as it is GM not the dealership that pays for warranty claims. They may be trying to hose you nonetheless. I still don't understand why a master cylinder would affect the transmissions shifting into gear properly. I am pretty sure they meant slave cylinder. If you order a master cylinder, you'll get the one for your brakes.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but does the 5spd not use the brake fluid reservoir and thereby the same master cylinder as well? When I search RockAuto, the master cylinder appears under manual transmission.

Also, if what I'm reading is correct, the TOB is the same as the slave cylinder, which was replaced with the new KY clutch 15K ago, so it should be good.

You have a brake master cylinder and a clutch master cylinder. Two seperate units. The clutch master cylinder "uses" the brake reservoir fluid.
There is a supply line from the clutch master cylinder up to the brake fluid reservoir.

Thanks Fireman!

This is the part I am planning to order. Want to make sure I'm looking at the correct item.

That looks like it. As long as the part number is correct.
