SS Maintenance Items

I recently acquired a 2009 HHR SS 5-speed with 120K miles.

I have 3 other HHRs, but this is my first SS.

I know the usual maintenance items to be done at 120K, but are there any extra ones I should know for the SS?

Since I don't know what maintenance has been done in the past (this was a trade-in at dealer) I am planning on doing the following this summer:

1) Timing and Balance Shaft Chain
2) Coolant replacement
3) Spark Plugs

I just didn't know if the turbo needed any special maintenance or not.

Thanks
Steve

Valves carbon buildup cleaning won't hurt.

If you're going to do the timing and balance chains, may as well replace the water pump while you've got it apart.
And, replace the thermostat too. Also might want to consider replacing the coolant hoses for good measure.

I’ve got that little 3 or 4 inch piece from the cylinder head to the pressure cap tee.

Yes, when I do the timing chain I will replace all cooling system parts that wear out. That's what I did on the other two HHRs.

What brake pads do you guys with the Brembo brakes use? I have been using Raybestos Element 3 pads on my vehicles, but are there better pads for the Brembos?

Thanks
Steve

That's the short piece of radiator hose that goes from the cylinder head to the plastic tee with the "radiator cap" on it. There is also a short section of hose that goes from the other side of the tee to the radiator.

You may be limited on brake pad options that are available for Brembos. Since they are a specialty brake/rotor set you'll just have to see what you can get.
Check the rotor thickness also. I mic'd mine and they are worn pretty thin even though I still have the original pads.
Original pads are terrible dust producers. (Fedora's I think ?)
I was going to give some EBC Red Stuff pads a try when I replace mine.

That hose is sold in three foot lengths, I only need the short 3 inch piece for my 2.2 automatic.
