Struts
#2
As far as we know, you have to buy the shock and bearing reuse the spring. But be careful; if it says "fits all" it is not for SS.
I have rebuilt struts before; not as dangerous as you may be led to believe. Air tools helpful, not mandatory.

Is the SS bearing different from stock LS?

I think the bearing/mount is the same. Springs and shocks are different for sure. There are lots of SS running around with FE3 struts, since the books are wrong, won't damage anything just not SS.

If you want to keep the SS FE5 setup then get the real FE5 replacement struts and swap over the old springs and replace the bearings assemblies and such. It really is an easy job to do with a simple spring compressor. I swapped my springs out when I went with the Pedders. With the struts out on the bench
"It's so easy a caveman could do it."

Sure, BUT, you wouldn't have the FE5 sport SS suspension anymore. As Don said, they're a FE3 type strut assembly. Softer springs and different valving in the strut assembly.
