I tested it this morning going under a train tunnel and it was very smooth and silent.

LOL.... no tractor clacks, maybe your clutch it toasted!
When coasting in a parking lot in neutral I do get a whine that is most likley the straight cut gears in the transmission, annoying but typical.

Mines fairly loud....

Wines and clanks going into gears.

Its ok though because I can barely hear it over my creaking dash panel and the super loud clicking from the direct oil injection.

I have to jkeep telling myself to remember that its a great little engine package in a P.O.S. car

were all married to these things now....

Paid 25K+ a year ago and trade in is in the 14K range for a loaded SS with 14K miles on the clock. I was pretty sad to hear it depreciated faster than any GM vehicle I have ever owned.

Mine whines a lot. So did the T-5 transmission in my '88 Mustang GT and I abused the hell out of it and I never had a problem with it.

I definitely have those same sounds from my 08 SS. I think all the noise just means the car likes you ;-)

Or Swedish, since that's where the transmission is made. Mine is in the quiet category at about 6500 miles.

Mine makes the noises. I cant hear them the most on bridges or roads downtown that are narrow. I wouldnt worry about it. Mine made it at ten miles and thirty three thousand miles. No problems no worries.
