I am still under extended warranty for my 2006 HHR. Sun roof bracket on drivers side is cracked and dealership says warranty will not cover it. Has anyone had success winning this battle? Would like to know before I contact them. Thank you.

 

Is that extended warranty a powertrain, or bumper to bumper? Is it a GM warranty?

 

You have to read your warranty to determine what is covered. A warranty does not necessarily cover everything.

I've been reading all through the thread(s) on repairing the sun roof with and without removing the headliner. My problem is I'm a female and don't know a reliable mechanic. I've been reading that the bracket breakage is a very common issue so it would seem that it should be covered under warranty since it's obviously either cheap and/or effective, hence my question regarding warranty coverage. I have bumper to bumper........thanks!

 

Well if you have a bumper to bumper extended warranty then I believe it should be covered, however you may need to confirm that with the warranty company.

That's what I figured as well, but the dealership said no. The person I've been dealing with did not go to bat for me before regarding the power steering issue, but fortunately his supervisor did and I did get that covered under warranty. I think I might have to do the same with the sun roof. I haven't read the warranty thoroughly as yet, but I wanted to have some ammunition prior to contacting them regarding the repair and going back to the dealership to have them mitigate for me.

The power steering motor is an extended service issue from GM , not the extended warranty company.
I suggest speak to the supervisor you dealt with before, perhaps they will repair the sunroof issue for you!

When did GM have a 10 year bumper to bumper warranty?

Every bodies point here is that GM has nothing to do with your extended warranty policy; whether you bought it from a dealership or not. If you bought it from a dealership they were acting as a salesman for a third party.

Your argument is with the underwriter of the insurance company. Extended warranty is an insurance policy.

 

You need to read your policy to see what is covered. That is the ammunition you need. But I have a feeling it's going to be a powertrain warranty the dealership sold you, not GM.
