Yup, the GMTU brings that back up to 290hp, 315 lb/tq. though IIRC.

Here the link to the thread on that here: https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/2-0l-performance-tech-46/gm-performance-parts-turbo-upgrade-kit-19891/

A SS 5sp manual vs a SS Auto, same HP, the auto will put the powder down, and consistantly better than a shifted SS. Shifting manually, I don't care how good you think you are, you will not and can not be consistant. A Auto takes almost all of the driver error[read "Rookie"] out of the equation. Unless they have raced for many years, and behind the same car, you will not shift at the right time, every time. Bottom line, 5 sp eats it-goes home.
Given the ratios stated for both the SS manual and the Auto, the Auto has a slight edge on the top end, no matter what you think. "Moon"
So back in 2008, the comments about the auto being detuned was correct.....

But since this did get brought back to life, when did the auto's final drive ratio change from 3.91 to 3.29 on the LS/LT's? I know a few (sleeper) has the 3.91 in his though.

solman-

Good memory, yes my 08 has option FX2 = 3:91
& so does a friend that has an '09 2LT wagon, I saw his build sheet.

As to when it went to 3:29, IDK ??

Still think the OP has an interesting question.. regardless of what is faster, more mpg, etc, why do you have run at 2500 RPM at 65 in a 5sp versus approx 2100 in an auto? I know it would be nice if I could have an extra gear to go into when I'm at speed on the interstate - and I'm not talking 80 either, although it's only 5 over in area's I might drive.
