I used it a bunch when I was doing competitive driving, and trying both wider and shorter tires. It gives you the odometer error from stock.
If you are off by more than 10%, you probably don't want to drive it, or you want to manually launch in 2nd (done that).
This does not tell you if it will rub, or have offset issues from the wheel. I think G6 wheels are on the good list for offset, though...
Example: My old Saabaru had 205/55-16 for stock, but 225/50-16 fit perfectly, and had basically no error.
I have the optional factory forged 17" mags, I run 225/50/17 on them. The height is something to watch for. my tires new were 26.1 & the image is the space above my tire to the strut platform. About .300" clearance.
