245 45 r17 tires /rims 17" 5x5

I have not checked the "tire rim calculator" located in the TOOLS menu on the menu bar or the one posted previously in this thread. But, I don't think so. Mainly because the width, the stock wheel is 6.5 if you go 5.0 a 245X45 is too wide.

Welcome to the site, your rims would be 17 X 6.5 with a 5 X 110 mm bolt circle.

A 5x5 bolt pattern will not fit the HHR. HHR is a 5x110.
Depending on the offset of the wheel your putting on, a 245 will fit. I was running 245/40R18's on Cobalt SS wheels and had plenty of clearance. You 245/24R17 is 25.7" and that will clear the strut plate. The offset will determine is the width will work.
