I think I figured it out. When you buy the clips they are bent backwards towards the screw hole. So I bent them straight up and it works. I noticed in the pic of revroys thread. Thank you all for your input. I will post pics later today of the finished product.

Just a very paranoid note: "they" would say that drilling holes into a pre-stressed wheel may be dangerous.

I am not sure anyone should care; "they" also say not to use a sledge hammer to repair a bent rim.
