Do you think waxing them would help?

It will but wax doesn't go on to well in the cold, you will have to bring them in over night , wax them , then put them back on in the morning

Well for now I sprayed the moons with clear plasti dip which gave them a brushed aluminum look. Kinda matches the grille. This should keep them from rusting
I may plasti dip the mirrors too match

My winter steelers are just rattle can engine paint red, my WV's rally wheels are powder coated Davis Racing red!
I would use Plasti-Dip on your Chrome rims, just for a little change up for s season!

A little update. The pasti-dip clear started coming off the back caps. I suspect its because the caps extend past the body of the car and get hit with road debris. So I removed all the plasti-dip and sprayed the caps with Rust o leum clear coat for wheels. Got it at Menards for $6.50 a can. I did about 3 applications per cap. Now its wait and see how they hold up.
