A optimum fitment for a 245 tire is an 8" wheel and a 225 is less than that. With fitment like that, cars look absolutely horrible and are unsafe at speed.
Yup, definitely not "optimal fit."
That pic was taken at a well regarded show at the local GM plant, he won best sport-compact, and the judge said those wheels cinched it for him.

To the original poster, I think if those wheels are hub-centric, the wobble nuts are the best option, as the measurements are pretty close to stock. Adding adapters would be pushing them out pretty far.

The stock SS wheels are 7.5". I think you wont need so much spacer there. 5mm should keep the inside from rubbing and flush with the fenders.

235x40 is way too short, my 245x40, fit nice on 8 inch wheels, but are .35" shorter than a 255x40, or the stock size 225x45, they are only 1mm different in height. I think you meant to say 235x45, We have put that size on a stock SS wheel worked great.

What do these wheels look like ?????

Actually according to the tire conversion calculator these are the closest diameter possible to the stock tire diameter of the stock 2007 LT that I have. The percentage of change is only .4 versus 2.3 percent the 235/45's would cause. I believe the SS have slightly more overall diameter than the LT.

Well they all have the same hole and the same magic number for the spring perch.........26.1

I have had 9 or so tire changes on these, and have noticed major differences from tire to tire and manufacture. The tires I know for a fact that fit in the 235x45 size (with out coilovers) on a 7.5" rim are Michilin pilot sports. I plan to buy a set when my gmax finally wear out.

They drive sweet in all conditions and have a 45K rating. looks like this.

Perhaps a silly question but why 18 inch wheels and tires on the HHR SS?

I don't like the clunk of the tires on the roads. 16 inch tires don't do this.

What are the pros and cons of 18 inch tires and wheels.

Actually Boydie, I am sticking with the 16'' steel wheels now that I have the smoothies from Hubcap Mike's.
I think the 18's handle better than the sixteen, but the tradeoff is different dfinitely definitely a more jarring feel when you hit the bumps. Also the larger rims look better normally. But since I am doing white walls, the larger wheels would make the white walls look too narrow.
