Well I have to eat my words Those are plastic Covers on my HHR that are adhered to the aluminum rims. Well Ill be dipped in Sh9t.



I put a larger magnet on it like you would use to pick up a lost tool and it barely grabs the rim only because of the coating.

 

let me take back everything I said about those rims, Buy some aftermarket Rims.
the factory rims are all smoke and mirrors Plastic mirrors at that.

 

Maybe just the chrome ones have the cap?

Most are doing the chrome clad these days, just another way to do shiney for cheap.

 

If this is the case on all the Color Styles they have for these rims, how in the heck are they asking $360 a piece for them?

 

OEM wheels from the manufactor are always outragious, even the cheap steel wheels.

 

I would guess its because it may be an American made product, it used to be cheap to make products here now it is not. You could buy some American racing rims,However I don't know but I don't think they are made here.
I think that Gm made these wheels because they are light and should be cheep to make them look like new again. however I haven't seen replacement parts for these type of rims yet so who knows?
It IMO saves GM money to make rims like these that way they don't have to spend time and money on a CNC router and at the trim line getting polished and clear coated. but they sure didn't pass the saving on to the consumer on this one.

 

Heck, for the $500 dollars, you could buy trick looking custom wheels.
I only paid $400.00 for mine, shipped to my door. Other styles available at same price. "Moon"

 

Yeah why pay retail for GM wheels? Aftermarket brings a lot more choice in styles for less money.

 

I believe the "Chrome-Plastic clad" rims started in the 2009 HHR model year & newer...

 

And i thought those were big money rims. They look like it, I dig um !
