Cleaning the inside of the wheels

Rotated the tires this weekend. Looked at the inside of the wheels and man they were really bad. Brake dust and mag chloride have done a number on them. Brown/black and pitted. Spayed them down and scrubbed with a brush but there is still alot there.

Any suggestions for cleaning this mess off?

And yes I did a search.

Bob

Mine are much the same way - about all I could do was spray with a good cleaner (Fantastic, Amazing cleaner etc) and scrub like mad with a short bristled brush till my arms fell off. They still look pretty rough - but as they aren't visible I've let them be. If one was super fussy, I would sand lightly (heavier on the pitted areas) and respray a coat of matching silver on the backside, with a couple coats of clear.

Get yourself some of this and thank me later...

Be careful it is very powerful and you need a professional grade spray bottle or it will eat up your sprayer.

I have used the Eagle One Wheel Cleaner. It's got like four different types of acid in it, worked very well.

The key is to remove the wheel for major cleaning, I do it once a month, Even in the winter.
