Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max
Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max
Has anyone tried these tires? If so, did they increase your fuel economy?
I am considering them for my '06 LT1 and have read some good reviews of them. Chevy is making them the standard tire on the Volt.

I installed them on my 06HHR at 53000 miles. Now at ~63000 miles my fuel mileage average is 30.8 mpg with them. It was 30.3 mpg with the original stock tires. One thing I discovered is that they are a very quiet running tire, sounding like when you are cruising in a jet plane.
Cool, thanks for the replies.
I had installed Goodyear Assurance Tourings on my Saturn Ion and they were much, much better than the Firestone Affinitys (Affinities?) that came with the car. The Goodyears had less wear, were quieter, handled better and had less impact harshness than the craptastic Firestones. I don't mind the Firestones on my HHR, but I like the idea of low rolling resistance tires on my HHR. I get between 32-36 mpgs with it now so I'm hopeful that with the Assurance Fuel Max tires I'll get slightly more. We have a little trip to Cali planned this summer so I guess that will be a good indicator.

Did I just hi-jack my own thread?
I own three Fieros..The 87GT (medium red) I bought new March of 87. It has about 133+K miles on the clock. The white 88 I got in 1996 @54K. It has been my money pit, Two different engines and two transmissions a t440 four speed auto now (134K miles). The blue coupe has a ZZ4 V8..scary fast.
sorry for the continued highjacking but I love fieros lol. I had almost bought a 3.4l turbod 4 speed 86 imsa widebody a few years back but bought a mustand cobra instead. my wife was happy as the fiero wasn't the best for dd duty lmfao.
My 87, when it was new was a dd for the first 8 months and I too didn't think it made a good DD. I picked up other cars for DD and use the Fieros for road trips. I've been on several Power Tours with the Fieros and will do the 2010 with my 88GT, stating in Newton Iowa and ending in Mobile Alabama. They are fun cars to drive and in the stock version not the fastest car on the block with today's high revving engines. IT was in the norm for the 80s for HP.
Now I just use them for fun. You don't see many Fieros on the road anymore.

I had an 86 1/2 GT and an 88 4-cyl coupe. Loved them both and miss them. The GT was pretty darned quick, but that 88 coupe with the revised suspension (that I fully rebuilt and installed a Formula rear sway bar on....that was fun) handled like a dream. Fiero's get a bad rap, even though it was only the first year that had the connecting rod problem.
