it's nice to know that those tires fit without any rubbing, but I'm also trying to find out what rim offsets I need without spacers or any other spindle mods, although I have no problem with having to roll or grind my quarterpanels because that's a easy and free modification

thanks again
Offsets are relevant but must be incorporated with your rim width selection. You must first decide what width rim you are going to end up with and then you can figure out the offset.

yes, offsets are relative, but i think what people are trying to figure out is exactly where in the wheelwell your wheel sits, so we know where the most room is. if we don't have the same total offset when compared to your total between wheel offset and spacers, we may be too close inward or outward and contact something.

could you please tell us what size spacers you used front and rear, and the offset of both front and rear wheels?

i personally would love to go 18x8 with 245 or maybe 255 tires on all four corners.

Yonash, Rod Run expressly asked about wheel offsets and to be more specific without the use of any spacers. My reply to him was correct in needing to know what width rims he going to be using before I could correctly suggest the needed offset. I am not perpared to create a flow chart of widths vrs offsets needed to fit under the HHR. I not really sure if there is any difference between the LT and the SS models as far as distance between the rotor mounting face and the fender edge. I know that I don't have that knowledge.

Now to answer your question as to what size wheel adapters and what offset my frt & rear rims are. The adapters and 1.25" and the frt rim offset is +55 and the rear rim is +62. Sort of useless info unless one want to use the same exact wheels with different tires.

The 255mm with a 40 series aspect ratio requires a minimum rim wide of 8.5" for handle, perform and proper wear. That's not to say the one couldn't muscle a 255/40zr18 onto an 8" rim but for what underlying point.

I appreciate all your imput, but to make pretend I don't know anything about the subject, I would ask what offset I need to have if I wanted to fit a 10" rim

in reality, I am asking what is the widest 18" rim I can fit, with the widest tire, with the proper size offset to fit without problems.

honestly, I don't know what width rim I can fit, and that's why I'm asking for specific answers to my questions.

I hope you understand what I'm trying to accomplish here, and once again, thank you for your help

This is almost like riddles. Are you wanting to keep the same width rim front and back? If not that a different answer.
PS: You know that we are on someone else's thread here. His question was simply "Has anybody tried 255/40/18". That's what we were responding to. I might suggest to PM me and I'll try to figure out what it is that you want to do.
