looking for new tires!

I want to re[lace my stock tires, which are P215/55 R16 too a higher profile tire like a 65 or 70. Does anyone know what is the largest tire size that I can put on my 2006?

You can play with some sizes here.

But I would stay under 26.25" due to the botton strut spring plate. These are the tires I just put on, they are right at 26" tall. You can see what clearance is left.

Thumbs up New tires for my 2006

Thanks for the web site and the advice, I think I can safely put 195/65-R16's on it without any problums.

you can go to 215/60r16 tires and still clear the strut. I don't know what you are trying to achieve, but this size has a little more sidewall height than the 195/65r15 tire that you mentioned. You will also find it to be more avaliable in many more tire brands and tread designs. So if you are trying to go to the most sidewall height and still use the 16" rim this tire would be it. Also the 195 width might be to skinny and not be able to carry the proper weight for the vehicle with a load in it.

What are you planning, white walls, I guess I usually think along the lines of lower profile.

Maybe ride, some people actually think that the ride comes from the tires sidewall instead of the car's suspension which is totally incorrect.

try this:
1. partially clamp your springs down and then take a ride

2. unclamp your springs and pump the tires to 50 PSI and then take another ride.

I think you will agree with me that the ride truely comes from the suspension.

I will agree that most comes from the suspension, but the tires do play in that also. I noticed it the day I went from a 215/55R16 to a 225/40R18. It was a little stiffer. Sidewall flex is part of the suspension.

Try this:

1: remove your wheels

2: replace with bare steel rims and take a ride.

3: Tell me again how tires have no impact on ride quality.
