42mmm is the HHR and Cobalts stock offset (not sure if that includes SS HHR ?)

solman98-

That's interesting, my '08 polished 17's are 6.5" wide. Can't speak for the painted ones.

I do know I have 17 x 7 rims.
Which rims do you have ?? & are they factory rims ?

Ok, sorry for the confusion. They are stock factory polished alloy and yes they are 17 x 6.5 but with my tire size (215/50) i can go 6.5 to 7.5.

If the backspacing is 42MM, is there no room to wiggle? To say to a 40 offset?

Why is this so hard for me?

The SS uses a 38mm offset on an 18x7.5" wheel, if I remember correctly.

I had it all along.....

std: LS and 1LT 16-inch x 6.5-inch steel; opt: 1LT 16-inch x 6.5-inch aluminum
std: 2LT 17-inch x 7-inch painted aluminum ; opt: 2LT 17-inch x 6.5-inch polished aluminum
P215/55R16 all-season steel-belted radial blackwall tires; P215/50R17 all-season steel-belted radial blackwall tires
I remember the first time I saw this, I wondered why they were different.

Thank You...

Our rims have Positive Offset, otherwise they would stick out the fenders.

Success!

So after countless phone calls I finally got my wheels!!!! Just so you know, on my 2007 LT2 I went with 17x7, 5/110 bolt pattern with a +40MM back spacing. Everything is perfect. Once its done being gross in good ol Ohio I will post some pics.

I got Sacchi Hyper Black wheels! I love them!

I just did the smoothie and baby moon thing. I bought chrome smoothies and moons from Summit. Easy and fast! Here's a pic shot in the dark in the garage (will try to get better shots outside later).

Nice looking rims, nothing wrong with going in a different direction from the crowd, haven't seen another SS with 'em.
