Ordered new rims for the SS

Just ordered these: SSR type c-rs's 18.4lbs/ea
http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...All&sort=Price

They are on sale for $129/ea close out, normally $454/ea, get em while they are there, they also come with lugs, centers and tool. One of the lightest rims available for our bolt pattern. These will require 15mm spacers on the front (talked to a Cobalt SS/TC owner who has them).

I like the stock SS wheels but the wheels you've ordered are really sharp. Looking forward to seeing the pictures.

Wink Once my tires need replacing, I'll be looking for a different set of wheels.

The dealer screwed up 2 of my SS wheels on the first tire rotation. That is what you get with chrome wheels I guess. I'd like to find something more body colored than chrome. That will be some time down the road though. In 14 months, I have only put 5,000 miles on mine.
I see you also have the Brembo brakes. That is probably why the spacers are needed, I imagine.

Wheels on the SS are polished not chrome.

Yes and no, rims from 40-42mm offset (depending on the design of the wheel) will fit without spacers with Brembo's, even some 17" rims. The problem, for me anyhow, is finding light weight rims for a performance increase, not so much looks. These rims have a 55mm offset, so to be able to clear lock to lock, other suspension components and yes the Brembo's they need spacers. Normally I wouldn't bother with wheels that need spacers, but the OZ Ultraleggra's (lightest true bolt on) that fit our cars without spacers are $335/ea So to me its worth picking up these wheels on sale and spending a little for spacers.

OPne word of warning. If they are close outs don'tbreak one. If you do you will be looking for a hard to find wheel.

I get calls on closed out wheels all the time and most times they have to buy a new set because they lost one where that is no longer made.

Might buy one for a spare tire.

Yeah I thought about that (probably will pick up a extra for piece of mind). There are other places selling the exact rims and for around the normal asking price. As far as I know Tirerack is the only one selling them at close out pricing. Though I've never broke or curb rashed any wheels I have owned in the past. I think it would take a lot to break these wheels as they are forged. The cobalt guy who is running these was making 410 whp and 400 something wheel torgue (forget how much).

Is tirerack selling you the spacer? Should the order be called in or can you select the spacers on the sight. I was looking but could not find.

You can order the Eibach 15mm spacers from gravana tuning or go here and have some custom ones made that are hub centric to the wheel hub and hub centric to the wheel both. http://www.motorsport-tech.com/

You will also need longer wheels studs for the front as per the guy who actually used these rims on a cobalt SS/TC.

this is what you need:

ssr 18x8in 55mm offset wheels
15mm spacers (for frt. only)
3.5in ls1 arp wheel studs (for frt only)

if you are going to leave the stock width tire size the 13mm would be ok but the eibach's are the way to go!!!"
