Relearning TPMS with bad sensor?

Hi-

I've never relearned the correct TPMS location when rotating wheels. I have a sensor which has gone out. My plan is to do the relearn procedure to identify which wheel sensor is bad and have the tire shop replace it. I'm wondering tho, will the relearning procedure hang up when it gets to the sensor that's not working? Say, if it's the right rear wheel, will the horn not beep for that wheel and then go on to test the left rear wheel when I start letting air out of that one? What's the best way to go about this? Also, any tips on who sells these the cheapest? Thanks.

Yes. It will not ack the the bad sensor. Then it will time out.

Try eBay for new and/or junkyards for used.

So I just keep letting air out of said tire and if the horn never beeps, the re-learn procedure stops there, I've found the bad sensor? Thanks.

I have another problem. I don't have any key fobs, they broke, and my DIC does not list the TPMS matching option. Am I now forced to go to the dealer to match the new TPMS and or anytime I rotate the tires?

The DIC option was only Cobalts. You can go to an auto parts store and purchase a new fob that includes a self programming module.
Here is a lengthy thread on the subject, there are others that you could use the search to find.

Wow! I need to check in here more often. That's awesome. Just ordered the programmer/fob for $40 on ebay. Looks like I get to avoid the dealer gouge fest on two separate issues. Thanks donbrew!
