Yes as a whole we have that is why the TPMS are required by law on new vehicles and people not checking their tire pressure caused the firestone tire recall on Ford Explorers. Back to the original thread....

The nice part with the sensors is you can check pressures any time, I know I cannot run 55 mph.. .

No, but it's hard to ignore the warning chimes when the TPMS can't sense the tire pressure.

What is sad about that, in ten years the new drivers won't even know what one of those are. They will just expect the DIC to tell them all they need to know.

My guess is that if the 08s have a LTPWS, not only are pressure sensors required but there may be hardware (radio receiver, controller, warning light and wiring) in the vehicle with is also required.

My guess is, if the hardware is not on an 07, it would be difficult but perhaps not impossible to add.

I've been told that there are aftermarket LTPWSes available but I don't have any details to offer.

Yes, there are. Post #13 of this thread:

GOOGLE brings up many more.

Guess I shoulda read all the posts more carefully.

But....in reality on a vehicle like an HHR a LTPWS is really just for people too lazy/dumb to check their tires.

The solution is 1) a good tire gauge and 2) checking your tires once a week. Seems to be that's far easier than spending the money for an aftermarket system then paying somone to tear up your car to install it.

Here is a link to the retrofit kit I recommend. I ahve personally installed this system on a customers older Mercedes. Not real hard or time consuming.

Good luck
