Tire Sensors
Just another 'toy" for the toy geeks to like and dealers to use as a sale point.......pretty soon people will be gpoing to the dealers to have their tires "fixed" because the check light is on......it is handy when you suddendly feel the vehicle attitude change , good way to see if a tire is going down instead of pulling over and getting run over...
Talk about awakening a dead thread from 2007.
Lets see:
1) There are two text lines on the Instrument Panel DIC that deal with tire pressure. This information is sent digitally to the DIC by the BCM. Without the support by the manufacture of the vehicle with nonstandard programming this will not disappear. The manufactures are required by law to install this feature on vehicles now; you will not get their help with disabling it.
2) The BCM receives the tire pressure information from the module that also receives your FOB requests to lock/unlock doors and remote start. So disconnecting this module will eliminate other vehicle features too. If you choose to do this expect other alarms or indications to occur such as the CEL.
No, you are not going to get rid of the tire sensors without a great deal of trouble.
I agree with your distaste for it, but I will have to admit it has alerted me twice to nails in my tires.

I always thought that tire pressure sensors were unnessisary (and they are), but last week in my car I hit a nail on the interstate. I noticed my fuel mileage decrease (I use a scangauge 2) and pulled over to see what was wrong, so I managed to get off the road before it went completely flat but it was too late and I had already broken some belts in the tire (which I realized after plugging it and airing it back up). Sure would have been nice to have been alerted earlier.
Also, living up in the frigid north, I admit that I don't check my tire pressure nearly as much as I should in the winter, It is just too cold out there.
