tire size

I have a 09 hhr I want to chang tire size from a 215 55 16 to a 215 60 16 is that possible? I want to get away from the performance tire that was put on at the factory.

Yes,and usually cheaper sometimes with a longer warranty and a lower speed rating (113MPH instead of 121MPH). I would not call the factory tires "performance", most people use the word "crap".

Much discussed topic, use the search tool.

Assuming you have 16" rims, yes. But be aware of the different speedo reading, it will say your are going a couple of MPH slower than you are. Calibrate with GPS.

Here's a tire calculator that can help you "try" different sizes, and see the speedo error that results from them. I used to use it when I was trying to improve my gearing in a previous car for autocross.

Assuming you are shooting for more comfort, you may want to try something narrower and higher profile. Like a 205-60-16, maybe. Ideally, you'd like to maintain the same outer diameter and add rubber in this case.

Oddly enough my 2011 with stock 215 55 X 16 had a speedo error of about 2 MPH too high at 65MPH. I put 215 60 X16 on it and the speedo now agrees with my GPS.
