Tire Pressure Monitor - Don't Want

I'm putting different Solstace rims on my 2009 HHR SS and was considering having normal valve stems installed. Will this just cause a Tire Pressure Monitoring system code to be constantly activated? Will this cause some kind of computer error that will not allow the vehicle to run properly?
Thanks, Ray in TX.

you will just have the dash light and "service tpms system" message on DIC which you can clear, but cant clear the dash light.
This will not harm the car in any way, but it may eventually burn out the bulb..which i heard is not replaceable and have to get the whole unit replaced..but im not sure on that
I do this with my winter tires but my summers have the sensors

Just do yourself a favor and get the sensors as they are not that expensive if you shop around. The aftermarket has now offered them.

Don't know, but do the OEM TPM not fit the new rims. If they fit just move them over.

Tire Pressure Monitors

States that have vehicle inspection will not pass inspection on vehicles that have TPM as factory installed items unless they are operative so I have been told. My 2-cents. Bill

I have a small recollection about removing the tire pressure monitors. But before I mention it, I have a question.......just to double check.......

Has anybody completely removed the monitors and drive without them?

When I got my winter tires and rims Tire Rack was happy to sell me some and I am happy with them. Don't recall the cost.

Sno white.....I guess I originally misread his post....Thanks.

Skyline.......interpeting your post, as you DO RUN your winter tires/wheels WITHOUT tire pressure sensors linked to your car. Is this correct?? If so, did you receive other codes or problems, at any time just after, maybe not directly AFTER, BUT A REASONABLE TIME AFTER, your wheel install?
