The key thing is looking at the wheel specs. You need 5x110, which is 5 lugs in a 110 mm radius. Offset is how far the hub is offset from the center of the wheel. This impacts appearance, yes, but you have to watch clearance in front, especially. The SS had a +42 offset stock, which means the hub of the wheel is 42 mm OUTWARD of center. Basically a flush look and not dished. I am not going to spell out all that will or won't work. Search is your friend, both here and Google. USE the measurements, and you will know what works or not. At least with normal fitments. Google is your friend for the unknown, but get measurements. Work with data.
When we get people asking if a 5x114 rim will fit even though they say they say they know 5x110 is the standard, it shows a lot of basic knowledge is missing.
The same with someone asking if 265/70/16 tires will fit - that info is here and in other places, but some just don't know there are web sites that show that info, and don't know where to start.
Sure as shootin, if we say 245/50 is the maximum width for a certain sized rim, someone will ask if a 265/50 will fit. It is just never-ending.
All we can try and do is point them in the right direction.
Maybe this visual showing offset will help... & generally factory alloy rims are forged (stronger & lighter)......... In aftermarket many are gravity cast.

Your one step ahead of me, was going to do the same thing.
Nominal departure of the HHR rim = 41mm.
This winter Hippo shod in Opel stamped wheels with the departure of the rim = 37mm.
This is a big difference. I pray that my hubs will not suffer. At the same time, it’s hard for me to find the right wheels for a low price, we have few suitable vehicles in the area and little demand.
I wrote this in pursuit of the original intent of firemangeorge. In the sense that the wheels from Opel are suitable, but look very carefully at the departure of the rim. Different models of Opel (and Voxhol of course) had the same drilling, but different values for the departure of the rim. Opel ET = 35 - not suitable for us, Opel ET = 37 - nothing good, but you can drive for a while, Opel ET = 41 (old Vectra and some more) - perfect.
By the way, ET37 should get out of the arches more, but this is not visible visually. Excess 4 mm does not improve the appearance, but greatly destabilize the suspension.
With full knowledge that this thread is ancient, here’s a chart I made for myself. Use at your own risk. Maybe someone knows if any of them have an issue with center bore diameter. I don’t like the Solstice/Sky option because the offset requires either spacers or adaptors, both inelegant in this case, but included it because they’re so often mentioned.
