Winter rims and pressure sensor

Hi all I am new to the forum and i did a search but might have missed it. We have a 2010 HHR i bought a couple months back. I live on a giant hill and put studded snows on all my cars. My wife does a 70 mile daily comute with the HHR so good tires are important. I would like to find a second set of rims for it and put on my snows. Were should i start looking? I check tire rack and for 4 rims tires and sensors i am looking at like 800 i really don't have to spend right now. Any other ideas?

Thank You for the help and if i missed this already discussed sorry.

to the forum mycapricess!

As we get closer to fall you'll see stock steel rims and TPMS sensors listed here in the classified section, you can also place a want ad too. Another option is a cheap set of aftermarket alloy rims and sensors, watch your local paper for ads from Discount Tire and places like it.

Thanks for the welcome. I did read on the forum that if you have two full sets of rims with the sensors you have to reprogram them when you swap from on to the other. what does it take to do this? Can i barrow my buddy's snap-on scan tool or is it something special?

The procedure is in the manual, it's also probably found described in several posts here on the forum. No equipment involved.

Page 6-67 in your owner's manual will lead you through the process, its a tad fiddly but it works, modern technology at its finest don't ya know.
