Here are some outside pic's

To answer some question.

They are steel, I sis not want any problems with Aluminum and salt.

I bought them at Summit Racing. I work there so they were my best deal. They do offer the same wheels with holes like the Chevy rally wheels and a small moon cap and two other trim rings one like mine with some ribs and one that is a full wide ring. These style 04 wheels were made just for the HHR so the offsets are just right

You can get them powder coated or in primer and paint them as I did.

As for tread wear much longer. Goodyear rates them at 80,000 miles with a traction ratings. They may not have as much grip in ice as a Blizzack but they are good enough to go through anything you may face in winter driving. They have been great for me in the past in the NE Ohio snow belt and a city street they seldom plow.

Almost too nice for winter! Looks very good. Now that's what a winter tire/wheel combo should look like!

Wow, those look really great hyprv6 although a bit of an oxymoron on an SS

After driving in 7.5" of snow and ice this morning I am really considering getting some winter tires, but have been concerned about the lack of tread life as well. Do you really think that the triple treads really work just as well as pure winter/snow tires?

Well I drove in 6 inches of snow with an ice base with no issues today. I never even really got into the traction control.

I have had the Triple Treads on the wifes 04 GTP GP for a few years and they worked fine and she has yet to get stuck in some of the serious snow we have gotten here. From my view the Triple treads have not left me stranded for several years and work great on FWD applications. Note the city seldom plows my street and I live on a slight hill too.

The Blizzaks are better in pure ice and lower tems but you pay the price in lower overall miles. They are better in overal traction but even living in the snow belt here in Ohio the higher milage Triple Treads work fine for me with no mileage penalty.

Also note Triples are some of the best tires in slop and water. Even better than the winter treads in water.

If I lived out in the middle of nowhere and in a much colder area I may go with a winter tire, But 85%+ of us the winter tires are a little over kill on most FWD cars in most metro areas we live in.

Winter treads are good if you need them but most people with average snow driving skills really don't need them.

Thanks hyprv6. Sounds like we live in similar snow conditions although I think we get more lake effect snow . I am the one who plows our private road, but haven't put the plow on the truck yet... The secondary roads by us don't get plowed until everything else is done and that can take a few days. The air dam on the SS was doing a bit of plowing this morning so I knew my wife could get her LT out... as long as it stops soon.
Her car handles OK with the Firestones, and the Michelins on the SS do OK on ice and packed snow, but they are so wide that they tend to float on top of fresh snow and slush. I think you may be on to something with the triple treads.

Man, that looks so good Hyper. Definately a good choice.
PS - Is that a Fiero under that car cover? If it is, is it one of those GTs? I think they were like 86-88 or somewhere around there.
