SUV was in R instead of P thats why it rolled away and hit the HHR? Doesnt make sense.

Come to think of it maybe the writer meant to say "SUV was in N instead of P..."

It sounds like the teenager had started the car, and bumped it into reverse, or was already in it waiting for mom and was already in reverse, otherwise the damage to the HHR would be quite extensive for a vehicle to have just bumped it by coasting a few feet.
