HHR SS vs Jetta

Coming home the other night I saw a car in my mirror coming up on me pretty quickly. He slowed to my pace when he got next to me and i could see he was itching to race. The road was clear ahead so i gave him the go ahead. Started in 3rd gear around 60 MPH. I left him get a jump before i took off but when I did I immediatly pulled several car lengths and by the time I left off at 120 he was easily 20 car lengths behind. I braked down to 55 but he had slowed as well and refused to catch up to me. He got off the same exit as me so i waited for him to pull up next to me. It was an 04 1.8T w/ an chip, exhaust and intake. I think they're good for around 200-210 WHP. He said he was definitely surpised by the SS and i told him now he'll know better for next time.

Just because its a jetta doesn't mean its not fast any car can be fast it could of been tuned with a turbo. Im waiting for the day some one comes on here and talks about getting whooped by a yaris thats been modded.

This one was indeed the turbo 1.8T and it did have a performance chip. 2 cars ago I had an 02 GTI with the same motor and it put down 209 WHP on the stock turbo. They are by no means slow.

Hmmm. I've heard far better numbers for GTI's with a chip. No exhaust or intake?

Perhaps you are thinking of the 2.0T which i've seen put down closer to 250 WHP. Mine had a full exhaust as well as and intake and forge diverter valve. I believe 230 is the most i've seen on the 1.8T w/ the stock turbo.
