HHR SS VS TSX...Funny Story
Hello all, one of my first posts here on the site and just wanted to share a story with everyone.
So, yeah street racing is "blah blah blah" and "blah blah blah."
Now that is out the way, I was back home in Detroit driving down this street called Telegraph. Its a pretty wide road with an island that divides the north and south sides. So this guy speeds up beside me in a lowered Acura TSX with a string of guage pods lining the drivers A pillar. He nails it and the accompanying noise from the soup can tail pipe had that typical sound associated with these types of tuner :P vehicles. I just kept constant at 35 or so while he kept slowing down and speeding up beside me...his scrub co-pilot looking over and the two of them trying to goat me into racing. Well, to be honest, you should never discount what mods a person has done...looks can be deceiving. However in this case I was highly suspect about any mind blowing performance coming from his car. So as it would have it, the next light he purposly stops and waits for me to catch him there at the red. He starts revving his motor like a mad man. I could not take it...I succumed. I had to run this little creep. The light turned green and we both screamed away from the light. As I pulled away from the little Acura, I could hear the guy screaming "Fuuuuuuuccccc*****."
It was an easy 3 or 4 car length kill. When we stopped at the next light, his co-pilot was screaming with laughter at what just happened, the driver shouted over to him "ALRIGHT MAN, SHUT THE F**K UP!" as he was goating me into going again. The light turned green and this time, I really made sure to launch the best I could...and I did...destroying him. I could faintly hear his buddy laughing as I pulled away from him again. When he caught me at the third light he did not even look over and when it turned green this time, I just let him go...as his tires and exhaust screamed away. Fortunately I let him go because as he tore across the intersection, a cop that was parked saw him take off and pulled him over right away. It was classic.
I just motored on home with the groceries I had picked up just a bit earlier.

First off welcome to the site.
I normally come into threads like yours to laugh at the SS owner for boasting about a kill of something that had no chance at all. While this one certainly did not have a chance your kill story is more about him being a douch than anything else and for that I give you props for putting him back in his place. Also it is too funny that he did a "ricer just got beat" launch at the third intersection and got caught by that cop.

The power delivery of the two is pretty different. While the SS is more linear, the GT is kinda like old school Turbo delivery through first and second gear...kind of an explosive bang on take off...which for me is a little more gratifying. From stop light to to stoplight up to about 30 or 40, the GT can keep up; however once the SS hits second and really comes alive, it starts to walk away from the PT as it starts to runs out of breath. So it stands to reason with 215 hp along with the intake/catback exhaust work (muffler delete with 2 high flow resonators) I have done to my GT, it does not compare to the 290 stg1 at the end of the day. Though with the 04 and up GTs (larger injectors/PCM programing) they put out 230 hp. Couple that with all the mods that can be done to the Neon SRT4/PT GTs, I believe the PT Turbo would be a closer match to a STOCK SS...especially the automatic. Keep in mind, my GT is goverened to 120 and frankly I feel that even if it were not, with the gearing and where it is tacking at that speed, I think a stock GT would theoretically be drag limited to about 135ish...again that is my opinion nothing concrete to back it up. Handling wise, the SS is totally superior especially at... ummmm...higher speeds
