Hit with rocks from a dump truck!

On the way home from work today, a speeding commercial dump truck goes by me on the highway and just as he passed me, rocks fly out from underneath it pelting my hood and windshield!
The windshield has about 6 tiny nicks, but the hood took a beating with about 5-6 new chips with one not just down to the metal, but into the metal!!
I'm still fuming, but I quickly grabbed the touch-up paint to cover it all up.

That pisses me off! Transporting rock that way should be illegal!

I know that it's used, but I still love my All this and my first payment is due this Friday.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Sorry to hear that 06 I feel for you, I've been there to may times to count. Did you happen to get any information off the truck, if so you should call and talk to the owner to have repairs done. Good luck and again sorry to hear of your rotten afternoon.

Sounds good in theory but rarely pans out, esp w/o independent witnesses.

That just burns my a$$ when that happens. Had a rock come up and pit a small pit in the windshield over the weekend...but not from a big rock truck. Can't hurt to contact the company if you have the info, but they will need at least the license plate #, time of day and location. At least that's what they ask for here.

Ack that sucks....I doubt you would have any luck getting anything off of the drivers company though...I hate being behind them on the highway...I'll slow down, speed up go 2 lanes over...whatever it takes to get away from those paint chippers!

Typically, if the damage isn't directly caused by something that comes out of the trucks container it is useless to attempt to get some sort of compensation. Even if a smaller sized rock or something like that comes out of the truck you'd be hard pressed to prove anything.

Imagine the insane number of lawsuit that would come about if you could get damage payments from drivers whose cars kick up a rock at your vehicle, it would be crazy!
