There's nothing that can be done about a rock being thrown from a tire, but if your vehicle is transporting something (anything), is should be totally secure.

I checked the hood again this morning and I'm pleased with the touch-up paint. I'll be added another layer this afternoon. Hopefully, that will be enough.

It depends on whether that truck was part of a constuction project, or if you can prove that, that`s the route the trucks carrying rocks travel on a regular basis.
You may get some compensation, but is it worth the hassle?
If the touch-up paint works, fine... over time there`ll be more dings, the HHR is a ding/chip magnet. I put a clear bra on mine, still testing...
Just above the "C" there`s a ding, the vinyl just goes over it, really the only big one to show up.

I'm pretty sure in PA there's a law regarding that... If the material being transported has the possibility of flying out, it needs to be covered with a tarp. And the driver can get a ticket/fine if they lose material out of the load.

It definatly is in SC. Back in 2004 we got hit by something that flew out of a truck bed.

Of course that was a soaking wet queen size mattress that did $5K in damage to my wifes 7 month old MPV.

I believe it's that way here in NC too. But in this case, the dump truck did have it's tarp covering the load. I think the rocks came from between the tailgate. I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

If that happens to my HHR, I'll follow that dude till he winds up at his destination with digital pics and an attitude. Police will be called en route.
