Here is a post from someone on the net with a monte ss 5.3
i ran a 14.08 @ 99 on my second pass with my 07 SS. it just has cat back magna flow exhaust. i have the time slip to prove it. my 0-60 is a lot faster than 6.0. I have not tested it yet. I am also running on the original tires with 30k on them. this car will smoke and gt, some cobras, will hang with a Z28. these cars are sweet. I have plans for drag radials, cold air, exhaust cut out and a pro tune. I hope to be in the mid to low 13s when im done. i will also put in new plugs. i will post my time slips as i make mods so we can keep track of what helps at the track.

So I would say ylu did very well chalk it up as oneore person out there saying what the? $#@? Was that .and how did it just vet by me lol
One reason why I love my hhr ss
this post was from a while ago, but I don't mind reading it again

Yes I was very happy to keep pulling on him, and I didn't realize that they were not that fast for being a "SS". why people will mock the HHR SS when they are faster the a MONTE CARLO SS, I don't know. A modded hhr/cobalt SS TC would have smoked the guy I raced...

It is not the weight do much and the engine torque management in these cars. The V8 would kill the tranny so they pull out a lot of torque and it really slows the cars down.

My old 04 GTP with the Series III 3800 would really perk up with the management system pulled back but you have to watch as it will kill a tranny fast. The GXP was worse. The V8 in these cars was more for marketing vs real need.

I think people would have bought more of them if they were RWD and faster....

The old SS's were so much better IMO

I want a 87 SS, I have wanted one since I was a kid...but they are hard to find in decent condition...Maybe I will try to rebuild one someday...

With trifecta your hp and torque should be similar. I'm a fan. Mine get 29.5 mpg loaded for a trip
