Cool

Boys, Boys, Boys. As my father told me, there's a time & place for everything. I favor opening the throttle up, but do it at the track! I don't know your roads, but here in the NY city limits the roads suck! Yet the rice burners are always trying to go fast. The roads are in no condition to handle it. I have both, HHR & BMW, both are a pleasure to drive. However, a Mx is fully tuned to go on a track & street. They're set to get to speed & stay there. The HHR needs springs, stab. bars, shocks, bigger brakes to compete equally mechanically. And then there's the driver, knowing the limits of his weapon of choice. It's not that your not safe, its the other idiot you have to worry about. I may not drive the speed limit but I'm not excessive either.

maybe you shouldn't come into the racing section, also you must have never driven a hhr ss. my hhr handles very well, lsd as well as 4 piston brembos with the performance package and 5spd. I also have the rpd and can pull .8 lateral gs on normal roads on a pretty normal basis, bone stock other than a tune.

Agreed. All you need to look at is the Nurburgring and see just how capable the SS is. Impressive piece of machinery GM built up for a DD.

And this is why I won't own a crotch rocket......I know what it can do and some where some how I'm going to find out.......if I were to own one.. The SS is the same way except you can;t do 180mph wheelies ..or one legged passes..anyways the car flat runs well so, why not!

Cool

No never driven a SS. Mine is a 2LT. After having it for some months, I must say it's a very good launch platform, have caught my self many times pushing my limit without seeing the 100 number looming on the speedo! My BMW still turns flatter, but I have a new respect my Hollywood Hot Rod.

Like I said, NY roads SUCK! I plan to put in a rear sway bar & better tires. At 55 my reflexes aren't what they used to be or maybe being older & seeing the NYC area have more cars than a road can fit has jaded me. My post was not to preach but to remind individual awareness.

Yes I do get challenged, but at street lights as the attitude here is I must GO FIRST! To my surprise & their's is HHR 2LT is not a slouch! Last I had a Turbo was my '86 Starion ESIR with a HKS "Dail a Boost" mod & Goodyear Gatorbacks (Z speed rating in '86). At 31, 148mph was nothing (that was on the Northern Thruway).

Had I known the 2.4 does better on High test gas, I would have opted for a mighty SS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Besides my BMW can't haul my trains, my guitar, my amp & my son's bass, amp (small refrigerator) at the same time, the HHR can & pick up her skirts & run. The BMW just looks good, especially with the 16yrs. younger girlfriend in it. I wanted one from my childhood. I'm living every guys' dream, LIFE is good!

Enjoy while you can!
