Use simple green or something mild, just be sure to rinse it well. The alkalinity of the cleaner being in that close of contact to your skin could cause you to break out in a rash with areas that have made contact. If you have access, a steam cleaner does wonders!

Also, some aggressive cleaning solutions can weaken the seatbelts causing them to fail catastrophically in an accident.

I've always used soap and water, nothing more. If the belt is too badly stained or mangled, replace it.

The cost of a new belt assembly pales in comparison to the value of a human life.

I used two drops of Dawn dish washing liquid in 8 oz of warm water in a spray bottle to clean the grease off my belts. It took two cleanings but it worked

By the way Oldblue, congrats on getting back behind the wheel my friend!

I know you've been through the wringer Steve, and it's so great to hear that you're improving enough to take the wheel on your road to recovery.

I finally got to use my trailer hitch last week!
My MMC (mobile man cave) is now on the road. I still have some inside work to finish and my 850 watt inverter and RV battery to wire up. I started my camper build on November 12th and 68 days later I hitched up for a road test.
Looks like my HHR will be getting 15-20mpg towing, depending on grade and wind. My 11ft camper weighted 760lbs empty- I think 950lbs give or take when I get it loaded for my first trip. It's 68 inches wide and I can see past with the mirrors just fine, but it couldn't have been any wider. I have 43,000 miles on my HHR now. The final paint scheme is still to be done, but I know it will look great behind my HHR.
