Unless that shows contaminants there is no need to flush the fluid.

There are several brands of synthetic DOT3 fluids and as long as it meets GM specs it's OK to use.

Sounds interesting - keep us posted on how it works out for you. Manually changing fluid has to be one of the most boring maintenance jobs - having the flush machine handy would be a treat. :-)

You can use DOT 3, DOT 4 and DOT 5.1. Difference is in boiling and wet points.

DOT 5 is synthetic and will truly F up your brake/clutch system since it wasn't designed for it.

I'll be doing mine soon with DOT 5.1.

Also no one mentions but if you have a manual and want to do a complete flush you will typically need about 2qts of brake fluid. THIS IS MANUAL ONLY THOUGH since brake fluid is shared with/for the clutch
