Air vents won't stay open

Air vents won't stay open
It's a very minor problem, but I've only had this car for a month and this is driving me crazy. When air is blowing out through the air vents, they slam shut on me. The only way to possibly prevent this is if I rotate them until they are upside down, but then the air does not blow where I wish it to blow. Are all HHR vents like this, or could it just be that mine have been worn out? I recall my mother's HHR has stiffer louvers that stayed where I put them. Thanks for any input you can provide!

aboard!
We've heard of this a few times in the past, and quite simply, the vents are knackered.
Replacements are available from GM.
The center vents are PN 20933882 for the Left and PN 20933883 for the Right, GM list price is $29.57 each.
The outer vents are PN 20933884 for the Left and PN 20933885 for the Right, GM list price is also $29.57 each.
Do a Google or e-Bay search for those numbers and you'll find them for less.
