Shallow Subs

After reading till my eyes bled..I have to ask..has anyone used or considered using the new shallow type subs in the stock location?? JBL GTO
..Alpine Type S... Kicker CompVT.. JL Audio W1v2... MA Hard Core.... Kenwood Excelon Flat .... Pioneer TS shallow... are all thin subs..Most offer 8" though It may be possible to adapt a plate to do a 10 with out major space problems..all about 150 watts and up...and a small tad over 3 " deep....they even have a few 6.5's..maybe fro the rear doors?..Input..neeeeed input!

I'm sure you could do it, but I personally don't think it's worth the time.

A couple on here have 10" in the stock location, but I think you would need a custom made box, its a complex shape.

Shallow sub

I use the Kicker 8"(08CVT84). in the factory box. The sub runs off a separate Kicker sub amp(ZX300.1) The sound is pretty OK. It's about the limit of what my wife can handle so I use that as an indicator of how much bass I get. Eventually I plan to go to the new JL Audio shallow sub(12") once I research the size requirements of the enclosure. So if you like a good bit more bass than factory then adding the shallow sub is not a bad option.

I was thinking about the same thing. The stock Pioneer really doesn't sound like a sub at all, I have a 10JLW7 but I know it would never fit, but I imagine I would go JL if anything to get the max bass out of the space requirements. I don't want to chop anything up, just find something that will bolt right in where the stock will come out.
