Another Loss of Boost Question...
back from my 4 hour sit-a-thon at the dealer.
the 1st tech knew nothing about the Turbo Upgrade let alone GM makes it. Said its the first SS he has driven, that my car was "plenty peppy" and pushing 20psi which is the most it should push!
he then showed me a bulletin stating such... I showed him, said bulletin was for stock. then he told me by adding the 3" exhaust I lost back pressure causing loss of boost (he couldn't explain how though) could be cause he is full o'poop
in comes tech #2
show them on GMpartshouse.com that the Upgrade will allow boost above 22psi and up to 29psi they said "oh........yea" and kept reading.
ended up telling/showing me the wastegate solenoid is failing, so one is on order.
As the pamphlet says:
"No One Know Your GM Vehicle Better Than Mr. Goodwrench"
Asanti I do have the K&N E-1989 no clearance issues

So even the GM upgrade needs to be reflashed after installing a bigger IC + piping??? I don't have any other "tune" other than the GM Turbo upgrade... please enlighten an SS noob.
Also Peevlos: how'd you get the K&N to fit w/ the stock airbox cover? I assume you trimmed that plastic box underneath?
Thanks!

What may be happening is all the fueling adjust tables from the change in airflow takes time to learn their new requirements. A battery disconnect for 30 seconds will reset oll the tables to the nominal value. Re reflash since the software and calibration are reloaded does the same thing. So... if someone thinks a reflash fixed the problem it was probably the reset to nominal values in the tables that "fixed" the problem and that can be done by the battery disconnect.
GMPP Upgrade does not require reflashing after an IC + piping install. A reflash of the same calibration won't change anything.

BTW this will also learn back in the mods on a non-stage kit turbo car. But the tune will then start learning back out the mods.
There are no changes in the flash/tune since it was introduced. So re-flashing won't correct any problems because you will be reflashing exactly the same tune you already have.
The battery disconnect will reset the table values to nominal. If you mods have caused a skewing of the values and you have another change then disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds resets.

This is probably a stupid question, but here goes... Would disconnecting the battery erase any of the GM upgrade's programming

? In other words, if I disconnect/reconnect the battery, would I lose any of the dowloaded flashes that were done when the GM upgrade was installed? I've always been curious, but felt too foolish to ask.
