Any Canadian owners have stage 1 kit?

Just wondering if any Canauks have installed the stage 1 kit?

If so, did the dealer have any idea what you were talking about?

And, what was the installed cost (approx)?

Thanks

Looking forward to the spring

I don't have it yet, but I looked into it and you can get here. I'll be getting it in spring time hopefully. The cost of the part was like 1100 bucks tho and labour is about 120$/hour.

Cokeybill has one installed on his 08 auto.

I have one too, but not installed yet

Best bet is to buy it through Crate Engine Depot, or similar, in the US (like we did).... and then find a local dealer to install it.

Crate Engine Depot will ship it to you, or you could maybe ask a friend in the US to order it for you and then ship it to you.

The $550US + shipping (~$35US) still ends up being significantly less money than buying it from a dealer in Canada... even if you pay GST+PST for it at the border... which you would have to pay anyway if you bought in Canada. The dealers I contacted wanted ~$1000 cdn + tax for the kit itself.

As for installation, best to call around. Cokeybill had his done at Ontario Motor Sales in Oshawa. I think his install ran around $400. I will likely end up doing it there too.

If you search for previous posts here by Cokeybill, you will see several about his Stage Kit experiences etc.

Hi Scrivs, I got my Kit from a member in the States, shipped for $585 U.S. I had mine installed for $400 Can. at a local dealership. It was the 1st that they had done and it took approx. 5 hrs. Learning curve... Their rate was $130/hr and gave me the amt. as it would have been 5 hrs x $130 = too much. The install has been absolutely no problem so far(1 1/2 Mths). Gotta love the extra horses.Big difference.

Install time should be about an hour per GM. Speak to the dealer you want to install it and agree to a price.

I have a dealer willing to do it in 1.2 hours or $106 US.

You should not have to pay for their schooling to lean how to put it on your car.

Print the instructions off the many web sites that provide them and give them to the dealer so they can see what it will take before you get a price.

If they will not agree to a price go to another dealer.

It's more like 1.5 to 2 hrs. TAC is sometimes slow. Driving to U.S. isn't economical unless your are on the border. Agreed you should not pay to educate the techs, but at least mine doesn't seem to have any probs. The tech that did mine had done several Cobalt upgrades and seemed to be the only one capable of the install, others didn't know much of the performance side.

The instructions have been upgraded on the GM install for the techs, but the extras brought in will help.

My kit is still in the box as I did not like what I was hearing from locall dealers on install charges. I as well think I should not be paying for there learning on my car. I going to wait till I get more feedback from others install costs
