Charge pipe help (Automatic)
I have the auto and ALL of HAHN's bolt-ons. The bottom cold-side pipe will fit without modding anything. However, it is a round pipe and the clearance for the T-Map against the AC is even tighter than stock. In my case, I flipped the T-map 180* and shimmed the radiator forward about an inch just to be sure, which allowed for engine flex. al a no bumping chaffing, etc.
so Yes HAHN makes a pipe that fits. but what you will find is most weekend monkeys, have only bought the top-side hot pipe, instead of the entire kit, which is just stupid when upgrading the engines ability to move more air.

Pretty strong words there, Stupid ? If I moved the radiator an inch, there would be no room for the intercooler that is at least twice the size of the stock one. I don't see where the stock cold side is restrictive. Given the choice, I would opt for the much greater cooling capacity, cool air holds more fuel. Stupid in your opinion or not.
Some of us weekend monkeys can't afford/don't have time to do it all at once. Besides, it does give some peace of mind to replace the part of the system that can blow out against the underside of the hood as heavier boost is tuned for. Now I know I'm not as car savvy as foolmoon, but I would suggest that the upper flattened plastic pipe is the major impediment to air flow not the hot-side (edit: I meant cold-side) pipe. Please take me to school about how much better than stock an aftermarket hot-side (edit: I meant cold side) pipe really is if you think I'm misguided.

Think about it this way. Pressurized rubber pipe will expand which means the area for the air to fill has become greater under pressure which means more lag. While the effects are minimal they are still present.
Also why?
I installed the lower charge pipe on mine....and I had to hack it to pieces (for an atomatic). I HATED to cut a $200+ dollar pipe. We need to get ahold of ZZP to make a lower charge pipe for us automatic guys that is a "direct bolt in". I would buy another one....just so mine isn't "pieced" together.
Also...the engine is moved probably 3-4 inches closer to the radiator on the automatics. I had to cut a portion of the radiator plastic for the MAP sensor to clear the radiator. I'll see if I can upload some pictures.
stock cold side charge pipe is perfectly fine. no need to upgrade it UNLESS you're going bigger turbo and need to do a MAF relcation to the cold side charge pipe.
if you're worried about the AC compressor rubbing it, then.... i honestly can't believe i'm going to say this but it's the only option for you automatic guys..... get a TTR solid engine mount.
you can call me a weekend monkey all you want, but the proof is in the pudding. i haven't wasted any money on useless parts that give no proven gains and i haven't overpaid for parts because of the name on them.
