Dealer saying no warranty on Stage 1 if....

I've been shopping around the stage 1 install at some local dealers around NH and the consesus is none of them have done the install, they had to research the upgrade before getting back to me, they want $650 for the parts plus labor and tax and if I buy the parts elsewhere and they install them, they all claim no warranty for that. It doesn't appear a lot of you purchased from the dealer but had the install at the dealer. I know over the years I've seen shops say $80 extra if you supply the parts (just an example) plus their labor but I don't know about warranty issues. My car is well within the warranty period. Anybody know if this sounds right or is there something the dealers are missing simply because they know nothing about this upgrade?

To the best of my knowledge they are full o'poop. My dealer told me that as long as the kit is complete and installed by GM you still carry full warranty.
Got mine for $495 shipped from Crate Engine Depot, Dealer installed for $65. (i think they screwed up on the install charge)

I 100% agree but of the 5 dealers I talked to all said they wouldn't warranty that and (1) said they were not 100% against installing (with no warranty of course) but they really rather not unless the parts came from them. Yeah, I agree, $450 on line but I want the warranty too.

The kit is under the 5 year 100,000 mile drivetrain waranty.

When they had to shim my intercooler for clearance on the new T Map they not only covered the warranty but gave me a loaner.

Sounds like a lot of dealers that either don't know or just don't want to mess with it unless they make a big $$$.

Then why do the installation instructions talk like you are doing it yourself? THey aren't written like it's sitting in a dealer service bay.

Read them. It talks about having to take the car to the dealer to be flashed. There are several comments like that.

I would call GM.

If it is not installed by the dealer it does not get the bumper to bumper and the power train warranty. It would only have a 12 month warranty as all over the counter parts have.

Check out Gengras Chevrolet in Hartford CT. They did my install along with another member's on here. I bought my upgrade kit from Crateenginedepot and they had no problems whatsoever installing it or applying the warranty. It might be a slight drive for you, but it may prove to be worth it.
