You are welcome, and I believe my statement is accurate, check with the early owners, or even the more recent owners with the plug and play harness, they still fail if the bottom wire gets rubbed. My GMTU, failed both ways, they fixed it twice. Hence the pain in the butt description.

Here's a GM Dealer

Still looking for somebody to install the Stage 1? I had a BS experience with Champion Chevrolet in Scottsdale AZ (a "certified" GMPP dealer) so I limped back home to CA and took it to Martin Chevrolet in Torrance. Robert Buhle is the tech writer. Jose is the technician. Both get turbos - GM and others - and they fixed me right up.

holy crap you drove all the way there? wow man sorry to hear that. not fun at all. but yes im still looking. Chevy Of Montebello said they can install it but they never had one done, the tech said he wouldn't have a problem, but id feel more comfortable with a dealer with experience. so you say they did everything correctly? how about the lower sensor? did they do the custom bracket for you?

Here's the one I put on mine. Just to give you an idea of a different way to do it.

Hmmmm, interesting. Don't believe there is a Champion Chevrolet in Scottsdale....or in the Phoenix area, for that matter. You sure you have the name correct?

Angry

WOW this is insane. I got my GMTU kit today and i decided to call Matin Chevy in Torrance CA so I can schedule a install. I spoke with Robert Buhle. I told him i heard the sealer has experience installing the GMTUs he said yes and told me to hold while he asks his tech for a estimate....according to Robert since the install is a "pain" to install its gonna cost me 500!!!???? Is this insane or what?? I don't get it. 500 for a 2 hour job? Shouldn't it be around 200??I can't believe it. There's a dealer near by that has never installed one before but the tech says he can do it and it will cost me a little over 200, I'm thinking of just taking my chances and going for the local dealership what do you guys think?

OK. I had a dealer install mine and this was their 1st one. Simply put, the job is just swapping out the sensors( a couple screws and plugging in the wire harnesses) and reflashing the computer. Very easy to do.
The reflash might be time consuming, if the link up with GM has any issues.
As far as a PITA. The labor intensity is about as easy as it gets.
$500? They have lost their minds. Take it somewhere else.

x2
the lower sensor is the only part that is a little tough but with a lift no big deal as long as they grind the sensor per instructions
$200 max is all you should be paying for an install
I believe I paid $150.00 took about 2 hours
