Finally..

I have finally decided to order the Turbo Upgrade kit. It should be in at the dealership in a few days, I can't wait!! Couple questions for those who have it: does it raise redline in 1st gear? about how much more boost are you seeing? does it get rid of the "learn down" mode? thanks guys.

Learn down mode? Pretty sure that is a myth...

Yes it gets rid of the learn down.

For the price though you are better off getting an HP tune or ordering HP tuners and tuning your own rig

depending on dealer. the thing with the warranty is if your car malfunctions and they scan it,then more than likely they will blame your tune. hp tuners you can't hide. trifecta you can hide it. could they find it?? maybe, but they would have to dig or the tech would have to know what to look for to activate it. if you install the gmtune yoourself,it voids(correct me if i'm wrong) only way is for them to install it.

not picking on bigjack, but it should be part of the 10 commandments of tuning a car. forget about warranty if you want hp and go fast.

There's something called the Magnussen-Moss warranty act.

People should never be afraid to mod their cars even while under warranty. Under the act, they cannot refuse warranty service simply because you added something to your car. They would have to prove that your modification caused the warranty work.

For example, if your engine all of a sudden started blowing white smoke, aka, burning oil, and you happened to add upgraded charge pipes and an upgraded intercooler to your car. Do you think the mods had anything to do with the burning oil? 99% chance that it had nothing to do with your oil burning problem, but dealers easily weasel their ways out of warranty work by doing those types of things. "Oh see these pipes, they void your warranty, sorry". It's BS and it's a lie

Where does the burden of proof lie? I'm sure they have a much larger pool of resources to prove you wrong. That being said, I agree with you.

However having a friend that is a service writer I can tell you that some people can and will manage to install charge pipes AND **** their car up... the dealer nor the manf. Should have to foot that bill.

Oh definitely. I just don't like how most dealers just push people around when it's not the actual facts.

I was just using the charge pipes as an example of 2 completely difference things.

And who knows where the burden of proof lies. Seriously, it would take a lot of money and an awesome lawyer to honestly fight anything these days anyways.

That's why I say mod away and take your car to a dealer where the tech knows only what he needs to know. Most techs don't even know the HHR SS exists so if they go to work on your trans they will never notice that your motor has been modified.

I say mod away, if you are worried about warranty, install quality parts and get a quality tune so you have nothing to worry about

You have a 2009, I have a 2008 and I'd love to know if the computer program in these cars is different.

I say this because when you follow the trial and travails of the HHR SS you read so many different results. Some have issues every month, some just blast down the road for 60,000 miles and only buy gas.

(yes I love the car . . . no I don't like the brain in it)

I've asked every service writer, every tuner (the few that know the HHR SS) and never received a definative answer.

I know my car has a learn down feature, even with the GMS1, because when I put the K+N filter in it, it runs like a bat out of ____ then a few weeks later it goes down in boost (not horribly down, but down non the less). Re flash then boom your back to the bat out of ______.

For a while I thought maybe the gauge was off, but when I see the two black streaks from the front tires when it goes into second you know your in the bat out of ______ stage. Then later you just get a chirp of the tires in second.

Great car . . . weird car, but Great car.

IMO
