Getting more frustrated with my Stage1....
Getting more frustrated with my Stage1....
I have posted on here a few times about not getting enough boost and others have said the same thing. So my car still does not feel like it was when it was installed last 6 weeks ago.
This morning,I decided to try nailing from a dead start. Weather at 7:30 this morning was 65 degrees and my air intake temp was 69. I hammered it and the tires barely let loose(It used to spin like crazy)and it felt sluggish spooling up(Dont get me wrong,it's still quick)but it barely hit 18-19 pounds and into second went to 19. First week it was done, I was getting 22-24 pounds. I barely ever hit over 20 pounds latley........
I'm beginning to think it was not worth the money. How can it possibly be losing boost and getting slower? The tech at Chevy said he will look at it but he has no clue as to why. He said he can reflash and try that but I sense problems if they do that.. I'm just really bummed about it.......

your car is fine. ALL tunes start of boosting 23-24psi. then ALL settle to 20. with cooler temps,it's common to see 19 from time to time. on really hot and humid days i will see 23psi,but when the temp cools,i'm back at 20. just keep this in mind... ALL TUNES ARE THE SAME WHEN IT COMES TO PERFORMANCE...IF IT'S A VENDOR,THEY ARE TRYING TO MOVE PRODUCT. THE DIFFERENCE IS PRICE!!!. also,if a vendor says the tune they are selling is making gobs of power and then say we tested on a cobalt ss and got the numbers, you will still boost 20 psi at the end of the day.

Wouldnt it make more boost on cooler days rather than hot and humid days? Your saying on cooler days you get less and hort days you get more. I thought it would be the other way around.
well, the bosch computer is very smart. it wants the car to run as close to normal as possible. so when the heat robs you of power,it will compensate. when my car was stock i was putting out 243 to the wheels roughly. with my bsr tune only,i went to 262. this was on a dyno that was facing a brick wall and hot as heck. i wouldn't say you wasted money. gaing 15-20 hp for the $500 or less is a good deal. i'm not a fan of the gm tune, but they all do the same.
6 months later I'm still seein' 23-24 lbs of boost. Even on warm days I still see 23 lbs. Would the newer release of the Stage Kits be altered from the oringinals(Sensor changes, Flash altered). Who knows...
i have always seen 23psi with the hahn...boost settles down as rpm's increase but nonetheless 23psi is always seen. i dynoed today and made 260hp and 310tq and it was rediculous hot outside, my car was hot and i couldn't get it cool before the run, the garage was 91 degrees, and the fan they used sucked. i believe i would have hit 280/325ish if conditions were good. my car is alway much quicker in the morning and the evening than the afternoon.
generally speaking i agree that most of the tunes are the same...although vince with trifecta is working on a 350hp tune which requires a clutch upgrade
but the hahn, gm stage 1, superchips, and such all pretty much make the same power.
